Hello ! Had a gtx 680 until 2 weeks ago , when i decided to go for a 980 . It is a 20th Anniversary Asus gtx 980 gold edition , my MOBO is a gigabyte g1 sniper m3 , Proc. is an i7 3770 and the supply is a Corsair 750W bronze certified. Just to be known , this 980 uses "up to 375W , 2x8 connectors"  , according to their website . So , all fun and shine , but the bootup is slow . Slow enough that i can literally boil myself 2 eggs while the PC loads ( with the old 680 in , 30 seconds would be all i need from the button press to entering a game ). This is a problem related to the motherboard , because the most time is spent locked on the splash-screen , where the "gaming motherboard killer" logo is displayed , along with a few hotkeys for BIOS and so on .  Ok , thought about installing a new copy of windows . Well , just one tiny problem , hotkeys do not work . I cannot acces the bios . So , any suggestions would be greatly appreciated . Thank you for your time , have a nice day / night.

Is the card seated and connected properly ?

Is there a post code on the screen / mobo that stays lit when the pc is booting ?

Yes , card is connected and seated properly , performance is just as it should be .

            No , i don't see one ( or i don't know where to look at , i'm a complete noob , just a casual student gamer )

I don't really need to enter bios , because a new windows copy won't do a difference. The conflict is probably between the graphics card and the motherboard , i'm thinking the mobo has some problems detecting the graphics card and that's why it is stuck for a good few minutes at the splash-screen , given that with the 680 none of these problems are present. Also , have no idea how to change POST and splashcreen settings , sorry .

Edit : After spamming the DEL button for 3 minutes while at the splash-screen , i noticed something . It is completely stuck for 99% of the time , and the last few seconds are the same as a normal boot , where the hotkeys work . Well , here i find another problem , pressing the del button , the screen stays black. If i don't press DEL , after the splash screen is gone i can use my pc in no more than 10 seconds.

Put the 680 back into the motherboard and update your bios then change your bios settings.

If that's not possible then unplug your hdds and that should force it to go to bios when no boot drive is detected.

Update the bios then change (if memory serves me correctly, and I'm going of Asus)

Force bios screen under option rom.

Disable full screen logo

Change to 1 seconds in boot time if possible

Force boot gpu to PCI-e. You should have 3 options, pci, pci-e, igpu.

Disable legacy 3.0

legacy 2.0 should be auto.

Remove all the drives from the boot order that is not needed.

There should be only 1 thing within the boot order and that's your boot drive. The rest should all be removed as they can always be accessed at a later date using F8 while booting.

It's not a race to the bottom.
