I was just reading a techcrunch article on Windows 10 http://techcrunch.com/2015/06/01/windows-10-is-available-july-29/#.mpkfpj:1NHO which says

"Word, Excel and PowerPoint built in" under the lists of new things added to Windows 10. My question is, will this be a free addition or is it just built in but you still need a subscription? Thanks!

After the preview you can still use it, but at limited functionality. You will need an office 365 subscription to get all of the new features. But it is free.
