New 850 EVO SSD

I purchased a samsung 850 EVO SSD 500GB and it arrived today. I have plugged it in to the computer and downloaded the software that it said to but I cant seem to access it at all, also I want to move my OS across and I don't know how. Please can someone help me?

Did you format the drive before trying to access it?

1) Right click on computer and select "Manage" 
2) In the tree select disk management 
3) In disk manager select your new drive, right click and initialize/activate the drive 
4) Finally, right click on it and format the drive.

thank you. that worked. now how do move my OS across and is there a way to do it without losing all my data?

For that I would suggest using samsungs data migration software. It can copy a drive containing an OS. That software should have came with the drive.
