Hi Everyone

I'm getting my PC built for me pretty soon off a friend. I have picked all the hardware but I've been thinking about the GPU. The Card I've chosen is only a reference 970. Should that card be ok in regards to noise level, temperatures and gaming performance. I'd love for this machine to be a near silent machine, would getting another model of the 970 help noise level + gaming performance.

These are the specs of the computer. Would it be worth getting another model of the 970? I'm wanting to play games like GTA 5, Battlefield 4, Black Ops 3, Farcry 4 and other graphic intense games at 1080p with all max setting or close to it.

Intel Core i5 4690K Haswell Refresh Processor 3.50 GHz (Overclocked to up to 4.3GHz)

Noctua NH-D15 Air Cooler

Gigabyte Z97-HD3 Motherboard - Haswell CPU only

8GB PC3-12800 1600MHz DDR3 Memory (2 x 4GB sticks)

Chillblast NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 4GB Graphics Card

250GB Samsung 850 EVO Solid State Drive

Seagate 2000GB 7200RPM Hard Disk - 6Gbps

Corsair Ultra Low Noise 600W PSU

Thanks.

Well if the prices where you are aren't too different it's well worth getting a non reference 970, because they will run more silent and with less heat, and they will also be much better for overclocking if you're interested in that.

The MIS Gaming 4G is great, one of the better ones for overclocking, and it runs quietly with decent temps.

i5 4690k | GTX 980Ti G1 Gaming | 16GB RAM | MSI Z97 Gaming 7 | NZXT Kraken X61 | 850 EVO 250GB x2  | 1TB 850 Evo NZXT Noctis 450 | EVGA 750W 80+ Gold

 Ducky Shine 3 TKL (Browns) | LG 34UC87C | Logitech MX Master ATH-M50x's + DT990 Pro's

If you want silence, it would be uch better for a non-reference cooler. You don't list your case, so It isn't positive what would work, but these are some good options. The gigabyte windforce is slightly louder than others, but performs the best. The msi one would probably be the quietest, and I would really recommend it for you. The evga acx cards are also good if the case is narrow, as they will be more likely to fit.

I would recommend the Gigabyte G1 Gaming 970.

I am conducting some polls regarding your opinion of large technology companies. I would appreciate your response.

Microsoft Apple Valve Google Facebook Oculus HTC AMD Intel Nvidia

I'm using this data to judge this site's biases so people can post in a more objective way.

The case is also very important.

I would recommend the Gigabyte G1 Gaming 970.

Cases with poor circulation, keep the reference.

If you plan to SLI, reference is the only way to go.

Sorry guys the case is the Fractal R5
