Go to solution Solved by Fredrikmikael,

LGA 1151 will be Skylake

Nope. LGA 1151.

EDIT: Ninja'd by @Stardar1

the first run of skylake will be LGA 1151

no, new socket LGA 1151 for skylake with Z170, new chipset (presumably X119) for Skylake E

Thanks :)

Are there any chances that the upcoming Skylake processors will run or be backwards compatible with the current intel sockets (LGA2011-3 / LGA1150) ?

Well, with an i7, GTX 1080, Full tower and flashy lights, it can obviously only be for one thing:

Solitaire.

Basic guide to CPU's!

If I said I were 14, you would call me a kid. If I say 70, you’ll entitle me too old. If I say 20 you say I’m inexperienced and if I say 40 than I'm too boring.

LGA2011-5 (assuming launch in 2016)?

not necessarily. 2011v2 was never used in a commercial product. its just a revision. by then we could stay on v3, or move to something new, or have 20 revisions. noone knows. but the chipset will probably be X119 or X190 or X910 or something like that
