Laptop resolutions

Go to solution Solved by EIijah,

768 is fine. HP is awful

I'm trying to find a good laptop for my mom. She only uses chrome and the MS office suite. I thought 900p would be perfect but I am only finding 768p. Is that enough in a 15.6" laptop? I don't want to spend more than $600 USD. I suggested she has 6GB ram and an Intel i3 or i5 CPU. Also we usually only buy HP laptops so HP would be preferred, thanks. Don't criticize me for wanting more power than she needs, I want her to have enough power for a few years, just suggest a laptop or tell me if 768p is enough.

My main computer:

i7 6700k || GTX 1070 || Asus Z170 RGB || C.M. Hyper 212 EVO || 16GB RAM || 256GB NVMe SSD || 500GB SATA SSD || 12TB total HDD || Define R5 Blackout || 850W PSU

You can customize this one to have a 1920x1080 panel.

Thanks and rude.

Buy something for 4-500 and put an SSD in it and it'll be as fast as she needs, basics programs like word and stuff don't need anything but min requirements

I have a 15 inch 768 and I think the resolution is fine for a laptop, yes 900p is fine but once you hit 1080P on a laptop everything is too small, 768 is perfect

well we clearly see differently, i think 900p is perfect for daily tasks, because when you have 768p you can see the pixels very easily, at 900p icons arent THAT small, and the pixels arent as visible, also you can make the text and icons bigger in settings if you need to

768p on a laptop is more than good enough for basic use.

i wouldnt say more than good but thats as low as i would go, i just think text starts to get a bit too "pixely" for me at least, but everyone has their own opinion

Average users are fine with 768, I never looked at my laptop and thought it was pixely. sure I can see the pixels but I don't care, it's really a preference and theres no way to say what would be better for his mum, but most laptops are 768p therefore most likely she wont care

Depends on the screen size.

Exactly on my 15Inch laptop 768 is fine, but on my 23inch desktop screen no way (I did actually test it to see what it was like)
