Dual 780s one would think would be more powerful, as this happens with all cards, but it depends on budget, they will create more heat and use more power....

PC: Corsair C70 Arctic, FX 9370, Corsair H80i, Gigabyte 990fxa-ud3, Corsair Vengence 16gb, Palit JetStream GTX 970, OCZ Vertex 4 128gb and Western Digital Blue 1Tb + 500gb, Antec Gamer 520w

Peripherals: Logitech G19 and SteelSeries Sensei RAW

Toshiba L50-A: i7 4700mq, 8gb, 1TB HDD, GT 740M 2gb

Dual 780s aka 790 would be sooo unreachable and just not justifiable. Cant imagine that to happen soon. Maybe 775 (dual 770 aka dual 680 aka 690 remake), I could imagine to be more possible.

I think they want to keep the titan as the top card. Also the GK-110 chip is pretty big so having 2 on one pcb would be getting to the lengths of a 7990 and nvidia generally don't like to use longer cards.

Wait for the 790. They'll be comparably powerful and two cards aren't worth the noise and power consumption.

Well, I think if they released a GTX790, it would ruin their Titan marketing, since it is a $1000 card and this would be priced around $1200-1300 with 180% of Titan's power. Also it would be better than SLI GTX780, since GTX790 would have 6GB opposed to 3GB of GTX780 SLI. Result- Way to go for everybody spending a 6 month salary of an ordinary man on a computer :D

I don´t see a 790 happening right now, not because two GK110 in one PCB is impossible (let´s face it, it is, hardware companies have done so much more "impossible" feats), but because it would take a lot of R&D.

What I think happened is AMD tricked nVIDIA into launching the GTX 700 series just a hardware refresh when they said no more products in 2013, now if AMD really realises HD9000 (or R9-9xxx) that would put some serious pressure over nVIDIA (reports suggest 20-30 percent improvments over 780), thus they would have to put everything on Maxwell, leaving little to none in trying to put last gen chips together.

if it happens, don´t doubt it will be near the end of it time, much like HD 7990
