Looking for media storage and streaming

i have about 500 dvds and blurays, i need to create more space in my room. So id like to upload my movies and music to a server and stream to my tv and other mobile devices.

After some rough math i figured that i need about 24 tbs of space to fit all my movies on to a server. Is it just easier to buy a NAS? If so which one? Or should i try my hand at building a servrer?
