Hello all,

I don't have very good internet here, since I live in a rural area.

I have 1.5 Mbps download and 0.46 Mbps upload, so that's pretty bad.

When I play CS:GO, my ping is constantly jumping between 35 and 120.

If you know anything about FPS games, you know that that's really bad.

Since CS:GO is all about reaction time, it's a nightmare.

What can I do to fix this?

I'm connected via a cable, but that cable goes to a wifi to ethernet adapter, so I'm basically playing on Wifi.

Cable straight to the router.

That's impossible in this house, so that's out of the question.

Why is it impossible?

This is by far the best and easiest solution and laying cable can't be that hard.

If you really can't, then I'd see if you could upgrade your wireless devices.

Sig under construction.

Because we would have to drill way too many holes, which isn't too pretty.

What do you mean by upgrading wireless devices?

Do you know the model names of the wireless devices you're using (router and wifi-ethernet adapter)?

They're almost certainly the problem because Wi-Fi can cause stupidly high ping times.

Or an alternative that I glazed over would be powerline networking, which should give you a much lower ping and more stable connection.

Model name of the wifi-ethernet adapter: Netgear WN2500RP

Model name of router: SMCGS8

With powerline networking, do you mean I should buy such device with a built-in switch?

Are you sure that would help me so much?
