Hey guys,

I'm planning on upgrading my LGA 1155 socket to the new Skylake socket when that comes out, and they're a few deals on DDR4 memory atm so I was planning on buying them! However I was just wondering will

work with the Gigabyte Z170X G1 Gaming motherboard? I'd just like to make sure that they'll work together before I buy them, I know that there's been no specs released for the Gigabyte Z170X G1 Gaming mobo yet so I understand if none of you could answer the question!

Cheers in advance guys :)

As the article says:

The Gaming G1 features four DDR4 DIMM slots (supports up to 64GB of 3300 MHz RAM)

I guess it will work with DDR4 RAM?

The Intel X99 chipset supports the DDR4 memory, previous motherboard chipset versions like the X79 do not support DDR4.

Two great looking X99 chipset boards from Gigabyte which one do you chose the GT or the Gaming 7?

I'm willing to bet that by the time Skylake comes out, DDR4 prices will be lower.

Not necessarily, since Skylake will also support DDR3 RAM. Most of the people will just upgrade their existing systems and keep using DDR3 for at least a generation more. DDR4 is not going to become standard at least for the next one to two years.

Let's think about this. When might Skylake be announced? August maybe? That's a solid two months from now. A major launch of a new processor architecture using DDR4 will most definitely move prices down. And there will also most definitely be sales on components to help drive the sale of a new product. What is the point of buying a technology product that you can't even use right now? What if your memory is DOA? You are outside of the return window and will have to deal with RMA to the manufacturer.

By that logic when the X99 chipset launched, DDR4 prices should have gone down. Newsflash, it's more than half a year later and they still have not. I guess you don't know how many years it took DDR3 to completely replace and make obsolete DDR2...

You DO realize that DDR4 prices are nearly half of what they were when X99 launched right?
