Wireless headsets will have an onboard sound chip and that's going to be the weakest link even if you get a dedicated sounds card.

his headset's audio is fed via optical/3.5/rca.  he will be able to use audio from a soundcard before it goes to the basestation that has dolby headphone in it. 

 

the limiting factor is the headset itself 

 

get an open backed headphone optimized for soundstage if you really want to immerse yourself in 3d audio.
