Server Build

Hey all,

 

I'm looking to build a media server for my home, this will be used to play music store photos and films ect... any ideas on specs and operating systems? I'm looking for a price range of £300-£400 ($500-$600)

Is this a server or a NAS?

If it's just a simple media server or a home cloud, u will be fine with some fanless psu (300w enough), 2 core cpu (intel celeron is ok) with passive heatsink, 2-4gb of ram and some quiet (5400rpm maybe) storage.

Unless u use it as a game server or like that, it will be silent and efficient.

I use that configuration for my home cloud (don't like to store my data on somebody's server, even on google drive).

It will cost u about 300-400 pounds.
