OK so im getting my lenovo Y40-80 on Tuesday and it comes with windows 8.1 now i know this might be a noob question but what software's are a must for any computer i know i should install an antivirus but which one and from where? also what other programs do you recommend

I reccomend what you would use and Avast is decent for anti virus.

whatnI would use is a browser (Chrome), Gimp, Steam, Origin, etc. It just depends what you use

well yeah that makes sense except Ive only had this crappy computer and now im getting a decent one that can actually run some games so i want to get into gaming obviously steam but what else do "gamers" download also in this computer i only use Firefox and league of legends so i wouldnt mind some recommendation of things to use

After burner for OC GPU, though as you're getting a laptop i would use it for it's monitoring you can set up an overlay to show FPS, cpu %+temo, GPU% + temp and other things.

 

Just lets you keep track of how your system is managing.
