Windows 8 installer not recognizing keyboard or mouse

ShadyHost

I currently have Windows 7 Pro on my rig but I want to give Windows 8 another shot. I downloaded the ISO and extracted it, input my key and selected my settings. Usually the install would go flawlessly and Windows would delete my current install and put Windows 8 in its place.

This time when the computer restarts a few times and prompts me to pick a computer name, the keyboard or mouse will not work. I tried plugging it into all the available ports including the front panel ones. I have never had this happen and I do not know what to do. Usually I can fix issues like this no problem but I think this time I really have done it in.

My Specs:

i7 4770k

Gigabyte z87x-UD3H

GTX 780 SC

Vertex 4 128GB

1TB Seagate Barracuda

Apple Keyboard/Razer Lycosa

Razer Deathadder

let me know if you need anything else from me. I would like suggestions on how to fix this issue.

So you haven't even installed W8 yet?

I have before. This is my first time doing it on this new motherboard.

I do have the disc lying around somewhere around here. I can't use my mouse or keyboard after it restarts into the Windows 8 setup screen so I have to hit my reset button. Then a message pops up on the screen and says there was a problem installing Windows 8 and that it is reverting back to my old install of Windows. Then it brings me back into Windows 7 as if nothing ever happened.

You have another mouse/keyboard you can use?

I've tried 2 different keyboards and I only have 1 mouse.

The lights on the keyboard and the mouse turn on and off during the booting process for Windows 8. so it makes me think that it might be a Windows 8 issue. Windows 7 was flawless to install on my rig so I might just do another fresh install of that.

I had a W8 issue on my laptop(when it was installed) and whenever I would let Windows Update install the driver(over top the one that I had installed), things wouldn't operate properly, including the keyboard and mouse.

I opted not to allow the Windows 8 installer to check for updates.

Maybe I should try again with the proper updates installed.

That may end up being the issue at hand.

Just tried it again. Letting it install updates did not help.

I may dig out the disc and do a clean install.

Okay. Too bad it didn't work.

Yeah, I hate getting out my DVD drive and opening my case to plug it in.

DVD drives are only useful in situations like this.

Are they connected to USB3? Because that can cause loads of problems. Connect them to the USB2 port which most mobos have and it might start working.
