Led light strip under gpu back plates?

Hey I had the idea to put a led light strip under the evga gtx980 sc back plate can I do this without messing up the card, creating heat problems, where would be the best place to position the strip?

Hey I had the idea to put a led light strip under the evga gtx980 sc back plate can I do this without messing up the card, creating heat problems, where would be the best place to position the strip?

 

If there is enough room as in space between the backplate and PCB I guess you could place it near the edge to get a glow effect. It may not be very bright since most of the light will probably not be able to come out from between the two surfaces.

Thanks I'm just trying to get a little more flash with a cards whose flash on the outside is a bit lack luster
