The question is should I go for a decent 2.1 system or a average 5.1 system for my new rig ?

Going to use it for gaming most of the time (fps and racing )

Edifier M3250

Edifier C3x

Logitech Z523

 

Logitech Z506

Creative sbs A550

Edifier M1550

 

 

Which is the most ideal speaker for my use

Id recommend against all of those and getting a powered bookshelf speaker or a passive set with an amp if you can.

My preference for gaming is a headset. Speakers are a personal taste, what are you looking for? I enjoy my logitech stuff a lot.

Not quite. Not interchangeable at least.

i would recommend getting a 5.1, since you are gonna be watching movies and gaming. the surround sound will help whilst gaming so you can accurately pinpoint the noobs you are currently pwning! also, surround sound is AMAZING for watching movies! if you are going to go with 5.1 i would recommend the Logitech z506 (http://www.logitech.com/en-au/product/surround-sound-speakers-z506?crid=1588) because of the affordability and the quality. if you just want 2.1 or even just 2.0 i still recommend Logitech. maybe that is just me being a fanboy, (shrugs)
