Need help installing a driver

I need to install a driver for my lan port on my asus h97 gamer pro so i can get ethernet (because my wifi is being stupid) the only problem is, to my knowledge, i need an internet connection to install it. i am running windows 8.1

because windows is smart like that, you need to use an other computer to download the drivers, put them on a USB drive, and use that usb drive to install your drivers.

 

linux has figured this out years ago, but the windows side of things.... :/

ok thx, and hopefully microsoft cleans up their act with windows 10

why would they? they have nothing to fear from any competitors right now.

 

installing linux on your machine? good luck with finding software.

doing a hackintosh? hah, wished you just fished up that lan driver right?

 

thats matter for an entirely different topic tho.

Its more to do with LAN chip than with windows. If you have some special LAN chip like Killer etc. you aren't covered by PnP drivers. And you can always use the disk....
