Warm Laptop Problems

Go to solution Solved by Kyuubixchidori,

Hello!

I recently noticed that my HP Probook 4320s underside is really warm when I'm using it on my lap.

However it isn't overheating, not even when gaming. (70-82 Celsius when under load and 40-45 when idle)

The question that I have is how can I get rid of the heat under my laptop. Is there some kind of a tape or something where I can wrap it inside my laptop?

Because it just ridiculous that I can't put a LAPtop on my LAP because after 30 seconds my tighs are cooked medium rare...

laptops always get warm. it just happens. put it on power saving mode, or get something to elevate it. the problem is your legs may be blocking air intakes, preventing it from getting cool air

best way would be to get one of those mats where you just put your laptop on.

laptops usually get pretty hot. (small form factor and all) so i don't think you can do a whole lot about it inside of your laptop.

maybe pop it open sometime and check for dust?

The only thing that I can recommend if that you put your laptop on a pillow or a lapdesk, so that it is not on your lap.

Or maybe you could water cool it. :)  https://www.vessel.com/videos/DWf6fmIKD

Maybe something to give it air while on your lap? A cheap laptop cooler or there are so,e expensive ones with 140mm fans that have LEDs and stuff but the big thing about them is they have a 140mm fan or dual 120mm I think. $75 around that I think or I can find a cheaper one. Or just find something to have it lift up a little. It's just heat building up and the laptop not breathing.

A cooling pad would solve your problem, local stores like Walmart (or regional equivalent) or tech stores like Best Buy(or regional equivalent) will have them and they aren't expensive. You should attempt to get a pad that has the fans in a similar position to the intake fans on your laptop.

Thank you for all the answers!

I just recently cleaned my laptop inside out. Put a new dot of thermal paste on the cpu and removed the old one of course. Changed the fan

( by the way it's a 13 inch laptop with an i3 m380, Mobility Radeon 5000 series AND 1 TINY FAN TO COOL THEM. )

I have underclocked the cpu because that is the main heat source under it, but it has no effect on the idle temperature.

However by the answers I got I better off buying a mat of some sort or a laptop cooler:

Thanks for the help guys really appreciated it!
