I've always wanted to learn how hacking actually works because I have a degree in criminal justice and a love technology, so I would love be to able to work in cyber security or cyber law enforcement some day. I really want to learn how it actually works because I know that Hollywood is a load of crock and that hacking doesn't happen like they show. I think white hat hacking would be loads of fun.

Also, Eli the Computer Guy is awesome. :)

So first off "hacking" is a very general terms, scripting, DDOS, brute forcing could a be considered hacking. Honestly it doesn't happen like in movies where your eating hot pockets on command prompt hacking into the whitehouse security. Most people that want to "become hackers" are really just looking to dick around and mess with some people. You are most likely looking to become a grey hat. DDOS'ing someone with LOIC or breaking passed the admin password on a friends computer is not black hatting. Your just a guy trying to script. And by no means are you a white hat because white hats get paid to keep people safe. IE the networking security people. So if you truly want to learn take some python, java ,c++ and networking courses. There isn't some one week course that teaches you everything.
