hey, my friend recived a message on steam from a good friend. im the message it stood: Hey, we are going to play a match on cs go and we will win 10 cs go keys each if their team won. and he went into the match, but it refused to let him join, a message popped up on the screen saying : Download [DON'T VISIT] www (dot) sxe-anticheat (dot) com [DON'T VISIT] to play. So he did that and his browser, steam and all other running programs closed and he was unable to get back on steam. Google chrome/ firefox/ IE and opera wouldnt let him into steampowered.com

Now he cant get into steam / browser Steam or any other game!

His account got hacked and all of his stuff is gone. Search ''Mr. Drew'' and a purple picture saying ''Whistled'' is his account. The only things remaining were a negev that couldn't be traded, as well as bloodhound coin. Now he  cant get into the account and he has locked his account and sent a steam ticket. but that dosent fix the problem of getting into steam.

The friend that he got this trojan/virus from was hacked and sent this stuff to my friend.

He managed to get steam track the ip of the guy that did this and he got a popup  saying his ip and his country. See pic down belowpost-197812-0-52500900-1433334815_thumb.

Please help this man be able to load steam again.

This is why you don't click links from anyone unless speaking to them directly.

Try running malware bytes and anti virus of your choice.

"He downloaded a virus from a rather obvious link from a randomer on Steam; please fix it for him."

Is this what you are saying with a sugar coating?

It was smart to get the ip from him from steam, but the attacker might have used a VPN tunnle, so your information might not help you.

It looks like he became a victim of a quite powerful spyware. I don´t know if you can get steam to give him his account back, but i would recommend reinstalling Windows completly. because you don´t know what this spyware is capable off.

And when you reinstall Windows, do not just copy all files from you current system  on a external storage and then back, because you can´t know where the virus is installed. And download all the Steam games completly new, just to be sure.

P.s: I thing through steam you should be able to kee your savegames!

You could also try to use Avast/AVG/Kaspersky/Adwcleaner to clean your system, but with that dangerous and aggressive spywhere i strongly would recommend reistalling.

OP, try contacting Steam about it.

To fix the computer: download AVG rescue disk, put it on bootable flash drive, boot system off of it and run system sweep.

And this is why I still buy blue-ray for my new games!

reminds me of the razer comms scam

Why on earth would he think he needs an external Anti-Cheat to play on a VAC-secured server?

Guys, if you have nothing more to say than simply "he's an idiot", then don't bother posting. This is the troubleshooting section, meant for advice, not psycho-analysis.

Fair enough, bit unconstructive, I suppose.

You're going to want to get rid of that virus in hopes of saving your computer. Run things like CCleaner, Malware Bytes, your anti-virus, et cetera. Once you find it, quarantine it and then get rid. If you don't find it, report back.

First I would have your friend make sure that there aren't any crap still running on the computer. Keyloggers, etc.

Then I would forward him to Steam's account recovery page. https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=4988-DHXV-7272
