i3-4170 or A8-7600 mini-ITX build?

i want to build a really small mini-ITX pc to carry with me when i go on vacation with friends so we can play samo coop games when we are bored/the weather is bad. i figured out that a build containing either of these cpus would be about the same price (i could get a way cheaper mobo for the i3 where i live) and i know the i3 performs better as a cpu but i am not familiar with the integrated graphics performance of those processors.

As i mentioned, my main concern is video game performance, i even hope on playing gta on lowest settings in 720, but i really do not know which setup would perform better in games. Can anyone help me out?

Edit: In case it is important, i plan on using 2x4Gb of 1600Mhz ram. The motherboards would be the ASRock B85M-ITX (90-MXGPM0-A0UAYZ) or the MSI A88XI AC V2 (7913-014R) respectively.

if your not getting a dGPU, go with the A8

i do have an HD6850 laying around that i could even oc. The a8 will probably not really benefit from it as i would need an r7 to use dual graphics (Right?).

yes for the dual graphics part. However, if the 6850 fits, it wouldn't be a bad idea to pair it with an i3

unfortunately there is no chance whatsoever it will fit, probably going for the a6-7600

Get a case that'll fit the 6850. IDK if it'll even run GTA V on lowest settings even at 720p though but I think it'll do better than an A8...

I would really try for an A10, IF your not using a graphics card. You only need an r7 if you want to run duel graphics. An A10 gives the best bang for the buck by itself. Without a graphics card the A10 will SMOKE any I7 I5 ever made. The I3 would just shrivel up and die.

I can't help you for the A8 but while researching the A10 I saw there are a TON of benchmarks and good articles at amandtech and others. Frankly some articles are just rebranded press releases but they are easy to spot. I usually skip over the office benchmarks and go straight to gaming benckmarks. Also Check out youtube for an A8 playing YOUR favorite games. Don't spend a buch of money just from this forum and take everything with a grain of salt. It's the times we live in:) Hope this helps

Depending on what you play the A10-7850k or the newer 7870k will run most games perfectly fine @1080p 30-60 fps.

I have built two such builds for friends of mine using the corsair 380T due to its cooling capabilities, portability and ease of use.

Real life figures using 2400MHz ram in some games, my friend doesn't shut down/set his AV to gaming mode, nor does he close his 20+ Chrome tabs, ever. So all my numbers are what ive seen on screen from the steam overlay during him playing.

DotA2 - 34 to 52 FPS

Age of Empires 2, with exp. - 57 to 80 FPS

Guild Wars 2 - 28 to 47 fps

CS GO - 29 to 53 fps

Skyrim (using all mods and settings from this vid http://m.youtube.com/?#/watch?v=tktMryae6R0) 21 to 47 fps

we did OC the GPU side from 720, stock to 900MHz and CPU we just increased by 200MHz from stock settings.

So yeah.... do remember to get 2133MHz or 2400MHz RAM, or the amd apu will be terrible.

The r7 is needed if you are going to run two graphics card. So can go with A10.
