I'm looking at upgrading my setup from a GTX 960 to a 970. However, I'm not sure which 970 to get out of these two:

Would I be better off spending a little bit more for an MSI or ASUS? I'm not sure which ones use the reference PCB.

G1 gaming or MSI.

 

G1 gaming if you're going to overclock it, as it overclocks the best but has 3 fans thus is loud & large.

 

MSI if you're not that into OCing. MSI is really silent and has passive fans. MSI can still overclock really well though :)

 

EVGA has good customer support I heard, but i'm not familiar with it.

 

ASUS.. well I heard some good and bad, but my friends have them with coilwhine so i'm 50/50 on that, and wouldn't recommend it. But that might be because i'm biased as I have bad experiences, so don't judge just on this :P

 

You can't go wrong with any brand though, 970 = 970.

If you wont overclock heavily, you wont see much difference.

There may be a point where I chuck a waterblock on the graphics card, at which point I'll be doing a larger overclock.

 

Will the regular Gigabyte 970 do? Or should I get the G1 instead?

For watercooling i believe the EVGA is the best.
