OBS video problems

So, I've had this problem for a while where if i record a video (it records fine) and when i play it from the start, it plays the way through, but if i skip say 5 mins into the video the video will freeze and stop playing.

 

I have already tried, reinstalling and changing settings but nothing seems to work.

Is there anyway to fix this issue?

yes i have tried in VLC and MPC. It also does the same in Sony Vegas and it makes it hard to edit.

and this doesnt happen with video files that you have not recorded with OBS?

Yes however if i compress or convert the file to plays fine.

What are you recording that you use OBS? The only thing I would recommend OBS for is streaming, not recording.

Games and desktop, it worked fine for 3 months and then this happened.

Do you want to have a new recorder that won't impact performance as much? I have had problems with OBS also, that's why I stopped using it to record.

well i would like to but OBS is free and it has Nvidia NVENC which allows me to record.

 

EDIT: Otherwise i would record at like 11 FPS

I record using OBS and have no issues. OBS is fine for recording, just make sure it's set up properly for recording.

And nothing changed? At all? are you recording a different game now? I would still suggest going through that guide and making sure that your settings match that.

I am recording all the same games, but your settings seem a bit too low quality for me because ive always been recording at 10000kb/s.

Well why don't you try and turn that down...

I have but the quality just goes to S**T and I can record at that bit rate at 60 FPS aswell.

1000 kb/s works fine for me and the quality looks great, I think you're letting the numbers get to your head.

well ill try it and see what happens.

It still does the same even after changing to your settings.
