8350 vs 4770k

Go to solution Solved by Bluejay0,

I don't really mind paying for the i7.

So the i7 would be the better buy in the long run? I would rather pay a little more up front than have to upgrade piece by piece later.

If for gaming AND professional work, I recommend the i7

Hello. I am in the market for a new computer and can't decide which processor to buy. The FX 8350 or i7 4770k. I am trying to get into video editing more and will probably video edit in the future.  But I still like to game. I like Skyrim, the Witcher, Bioshock Infinite and more.

The difference in price for my AMD build and Intel build is roughly $100. Would it be worth it to pay that much more in the long run?

Here is my part list:

Intel   http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1iRD1

AMD   http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1iRDU

I have an SSD and just need a big HDD.

I have peripherals.

I have Windows 7.

My reasoning for the motherboard is that I intend to re-use a sound card that uses PCI.

I don't really have a budget, but don't want to go overboard for x79 or something. :-)

Might just go for the Intel for the low TDP. It does run hot but tha cooler should be enough either way :D

Both the 4700k and 8350 are really good processors but it really depends on how much you want to spend. I would pick the 4770K because Intel has always been my choice but also because it has a lower heat out put, but either CPU would be a great choice.

Both are pretty good cpu's, the Haswell is ofc a little bit faster. But its up to you, if you like to pay more or if you want to save some money and maybe upgrade something else in your rig.

Also many video editing programs started using GPGPU like CUDA or OpenCL.

Go the the i7, you won't regret your purchase.

If you can drive to a Microcenter to buy your parts....do so.

I got my 4770k for $279...
