I am looking to buy into a flash ecosystem for Nikon, and I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations?

Budget -$300-$400CAD

Uses -Fill flash and portraiture flash (may add more units when I understand how to use the flash)

Used with 50mm 1.8, 24-70 2.8, (possibly 200mm later) and Nikon D5200

Should I just buy the Nikon SB700 flash, and buy cheaper slave units later?

Personally I like Yunguo's Stuff. I use their YN565 + YN560 3's + RF603's.

On camera the YN565 is great, offers TTL + focus light but doesn't offer HSS. For off camera work the YN560 3's (I have two) are great as optical slaves or using the Yunguo 603 N3 Triggers.

They're reasonably powerful, (I'd say greater or equal to the Sb700 my buddy has) The biggest grip I have about them is that they use a twist to lock mechanism for the hot-shoe and the Nikons use a  switch to lock. I prefer switches but it's a minor thing.

I haven't tried them but the newer versions of what I have look promising. The YN568 is like my YN565 but has HSS and the newer YN 560 4's can be wirelessly controlled and triggers by the YN560-TX.

Thank-you, I'll defiantly look into these.
