Laptop Trackpad not working

So my dad bought a wireless mouse for his laptop a few weeks ago and it seemed to work just fine until after a week it stopped working properly so he decided to unplug it from the laptop and use the trackpad, however the trackpad didn't work even with the wireless mouse receiver unplugged and today he's gone out and bought another mouse but still the trackpad is not working so I come here to seek answers and solutions to this problem.

 

Dad's Laptop- Toshiba Satellite L850-1EK

go to control panel, mouse, device settings and make sure the box is NOT checked that says "Disable internal pointing device when a USB external device is connected".  Also, FN+F9 should toggle the trackpad on/off.

Find the FN key and press it together with the key that has a hand on a surface on the Keyboard. For example mine is FN+ F7

We've just done that and now we can't enable it again after holding it down

Try this. Do not know if you have windows 7, or windows 8. This works with windows 7
