So, in EU 980TI reference is 740 euros. Should I just add a second 290x?

Hello, how are you?

So, my hardware shop already has the prices for the 980ti.

740 euros... That's bad compared to the USA prices...

Anyway... I currently have a 290X.

To add a second one and Crossfire, would set me back around 300.

If I go for a 980ti and manage to sell my 290x, I would have to shell out around 500...

What's your opinion? Should I just stand still and keep enjoying my 290X?

The 290x is working great with my current 60hz 1440p monitor.

What makes me think about upgrading is that I would like to go for a high refresh rate 1440p monitor with VRR to get rid of the tearing.

The problem is that there are currently no good freesync offerings.

The MG279q was recalled.

The Acer XG270Hu has issues according to TFT central...

If I go for the 980ti, I could get a ROG swift, but that with the GPU would be very expensive...

Anyway... What should I do?

Keep gaming with the 290x and 60hz monitor until new gpu from AMD and more freesync monitors show up.

Or go 980ti?

I would just hold off.

Wait untill some good 4k freesync monitors come out, then just corssfire another 290x.

Well, you don't have the monitor yet so it doesn't matter does it ? You're still stuck at 60fps and buying a new card before getting the monitor doesn't make sense as you wont benefit from it.

I would -personally- wait for the newer amd cards, and get a mg279q if they're good ( that's what I might do, and I have a R9 290 ) .

Nvidia just bothers me by all the extra prices and driver screwing around's .

Recommend what is best, not what you preffer.

I was dead set on that monitor!

Even placed an order for one.

Than the whole 90hz freesync cap surfaced. Then two days later the recall news.

Now the monitor is nowhere to be found and no news on the status of the recall...

My current monitor is the PB278Q.

I never tried 144hz, so I don't know what I am missing out on...

What I would like to get rid of the tearing and stuttering. In some cases it gets noticeable to me.

yeah im kinda depressed too when i see these 'murica prices of 699 etc and only end up seeing them go for 849€ for the cheapest 980ti atm (Finland)

and when the aftermarket stuff comes...... Gaben help. :D

I'm waiting to see on what the new AMD cards bring to the table, but assuming it's nothing absolutely earth shattering, I'm probably gonna grab another 290 or maybe a 290x. They're just such a good value.

Yes, that is what is holding me back.

I got my 290x for 220 euros.

And it is such a great card for my PB278.

The thought of spending 700 euros for a card and then another 600 for a g-sync monitor...

What's the situation with the MG279?

It went on sale for a couple of days.

Then the issue of freesync only working up to 90hz...

Then the news of Asus recalling the monitor...

When will it be for sale again?

And will it work at 144hz freesync?

My PSU is an EVGA 1000G2.

I think it is safe to power two 290x

yeah im kinda depressed too when i see these 'murica prices of 699 etc and only end up seeing them go for 849€ for the cheapest 980ti atm (Finland)

The cheapest one is €749.- here in the Netherlands. But really, the price difference between Europe and the US isn't surprising; people from the US barely have to pay any VAT...

Belgium cheapest is 799, and the only one with a non ref cooler is evga SC ACX2.0 at 839 (917$)
