New pc

Go to solution Solved by NeatSquidYT,

1. Good build. Very balanced.

2. The case.... Upgrade to that  case in the future, and get a better GPU for now.

3. Games see the threads as cores, so FC4 does run on a hyperthreaded dual core.

Hello guys,

I am going to build my very first own pc this summer and I would like your help.

1. Budget & Location
I live in Holland, my budget is €700. You can use http://www.depcpartpicker.com/ because the German prices are around the same as the Dutch prices.

2. Aim
I am going to use this system to play games and do some light work for school. The most demanding games I will play are Far Cry 3 & 4, Crysis 3 and Battlefield 4. I would like to get a decent FPS on normal/high at 1080p

3. Monitors
I am running on one 21" 1080p monitor. I might buy a second one in the future.

4. Peripherals
I don't need an OS or peripherals.

5. Why are you upgrading?
I am going to build this pc because my current laptop just can't play any games at all.

Currently I have this:

Notes:

• I need the optical drive for installing some old games and programs

• I would like to keep the case, but if there is no other option I won't mind buying another case that looks like this one.

MrChavelo

P.S. Far Cry 4 doesn't run on 2 cores, but does it run on 4 threads?

Thanks!

Is the Cooler Master N300 any good for a temporary case?

I want to get a H97 motherboard because I won't upgrade it in a long time, it has to match my color scheme too

Bear in mind that games and technology moves on very quickly. It may be a year or two before you have to upgrade. The i3 looks very good, but I think the R9 270 is starting to show its age. Not that it isn't a good card, it probably is.

Just be prepared to upgrade in the next year or two to meet the demands of video games.

I already knew that I would have to upgrade the GPU in a few years, but that isn't that big of deal because by that time I surely have enough money to buy a new, better one

I was just about to say get a Z97 board instead, but it would probably be irrelevant in a few years time.

Other than that, it looks like a really solid build. Hope you have fun building it and playing on it. :)
