So ive had a long disscusion about CPU cooling, and i just noticed, i have 50C idle temp on all my cores

I know that this is bad, but how bad is it?

(my CPU is intel 4690K)

idle temps dont matter as much as load temps and is it in turbo mode or stocu mofe and that isnt so bad

But if i leave the computer idle, or browse the web with 50 C on my CPU for like 2 hours, wouldnt that be bad

also, if by turbo you mean overclock, no i havent overclocked

turbo like turbo boost and no that would not be bad but if it goes up to 85c load that its bad

Get a proper CPU cooler and correct case air flow.

It goes up to 80-81C

I dont have thermal paste, so that is what i will do

Air flow seems to be fine, since my GPU runs cool

well the thermal paste comes with the new cooler. the only thing you need to have is isopropyl alcohol. combined with something like the 212evo your at like 30$

I never really got any insane temps like everyone is telling me im having without thermal paste anyway, so i dont think i need a temporary solution to it.

Temps

Idle 45 - 50 C

Gaming (arma 3) 50 - 60 C

Benchmark (after about 3 minutes) 80-81 C

Because, as plainly stated in the article, it works as a temporary fix. The OP clearly stated he had no thermal paste. Since 99.9% of the population doesn't live next to a Microcenter and judging by the fact he hasn't come back and said something like "gee willikers, guess I'll go grab that thermal paste I had sitting here the whole time that I simply didn't use for....reasons" it's safe to say he's not going to be able to get any for at least a few days. And he never mentioned what cooler he has in the first place. You assume so much with so little information.

Next time, try reading.

You clearly didn't read the last sentences of that article either. While yes, mayonnaise will act as temp thermal conpound, so does many other oil based pastes like toothpaste. But as stated in article, it would be only worth for first 24h. After that the oxidation effect on both CPU and cooler can compromise boths performance, even after proper cleaning. So in that sense, rather than suggest such action to be used with expensive hardware, make a visible joke about it and don't get such anger when someone points out the obvious.
