Question about the Surface Pro 3.

Hey guys! How is everybody doing today?

 

I just wanted to ask is the Surface Pro 3 worth the asking price? I'm going to start graduate school on Monday and need a laptop. 

 

If you guys think the Surface Pro 3 isn't worth it, than what laptop do you guys recommend? 

 

 

The suggestion doesn't need to be a "gaming" laptop (even though some notebooks with a 960m/965m are about the same price as the surface).  This is where I need the advice.

 

Should I invest in the alienware 13 for the same price? I am not going to be doing any core gaming while in school, mostly indie titles. 

 

 

I currently have a Samsung Gamer 7 (soon be be replaced with a gaming rig) and I don't feel like carrying a 17" desktop replacement along with all the other textbooks and binders.  It will just become too heavy.   I'm planning to leave my Samsung Gamer 7 at my parents house (for when I visit them) and just need a replacement to make life easy to carry things things around without hurting my back

I personally like the review linus did on the Asus G501 Gaming

 

 

Seems better suited for productivity than gaming, but it's nice to know it's got some juice in it if you need it

Let's be honest, Linus was extremely biased against the SP3 it seems, because far and wide it is considered at the very least a good device.

The Surface 3 just came out, and is an identical form factor to the SP3. The Surface 3 can also run x86 desktop applications.
