Hi Guys,

I have a quick question about upgrading my graphics card.

Currently I am using a GTX 650 and am looking to upgrade it into a GTX 970.

My question is will my computer run into any problem with this upgrade?

CPU: AMD FX 6350

Cooler: Stock fan cooler

Motherboard: ASUS M5a97 LE R2.0

PSU: 750W forgot the brand

Memory: Vulcan 8gb DDR3

I know I will need to at least try this but just initial observations of my pc specs would it have trouble running the GTX 970?

Are there anything i will need to upgrade as well?

Thanks!!

You should find out what PSU brand and model it is specifically, but as far as I can tell you should be fine with a GTX 970. However next upgrade consider a new CPU/mobo as FX is becoming dated

I would save some money and get a 290x

meaning you get the same fps and can upgrade cpu sooner

But i heard that the R9 290 produces way more heat than the GTX 970. Is that true? Because my current set up doesnt really have optimum air flow so im afraid of overheating components in my system

They are very hot cards, if you don't havee adaquate cooling it may thermal throttle.

Other than the FX models what else would you recommend for CPU?

Does that mean i would need to liquid cool the cards? or just add more fans to my case. Because currently I have the Thermaltake Commander snow edition http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811133196. It seems a bit crowded at the moment in my case because my PSU isnt modular and i have cables everywhere.

doesnt matter they are fine with heat as long as you stay below 95c you are fine

Thats that. If you need to get in touch chances are you can find someone that knows me that can get in touch.

the FX CPU's are no match for a GTX 970...unless you game at 1440p resolution or higher and aim for 30-40FPS...defenetly upgrade the graphics card though it's well worth it you WILL get much better performance, but you aint gonna see what the 970 is capable in games until you bought at least something like a core i5-4460 or better.
