in want to build a rig form my friend but he only has 400, amd preferably and the case can be super cheep

might be better to buy second hand at that budget

or save up some more

Dont go with a pc for 400€ its just not worth it ... im sorry but this is the truth go with a console  ... D; its hertz to say this

You'd have a MUCH MUCH MUCH better PC is you bought a used PC from someone who has recently upgraded and it flogging off older parts for cheap.

Like a 2nd gen i3>i5 and a decent GPU with it...

 

i5 2400+8GB DDR3+ HD7870 or GTX 570 (or better) DX11 capable card of decent power

Buying new,.. your gunna see diminishing returns for a 'Gaming machine'

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

This is a decent machine, if the bare minimum. This assumes new parts only, USA and no peripherals, monitor or OS.

I really agree with this. Look, LTT are based in Canada and for less than $500, they could put together something with a C2Q and an R9 290. If you can buy used, it would be beneficial. You could probably fit an i5 and an R9 270X into a $400 budget in that case.

I really agree with this. Look, LTT are based in Canada and for less than $500, they could put together something with a C2Q and an R9 290. If you can buy used, it would be beneficial. You could probably fit an i5 and an R9 270X into a $400 budget in that case.

 

NCIX US Shipping price tho..especially that case.

270x is good for 1080p HQ gameplay aiming for NEVER dropping under 30fps in almost all titles.

Agreed that he could do worse,.. and be better off than he currently is.

OP - FYI - I can FC4 @ Ultra /w SMAA and got an avg FPS of 35-40fps, never once dropped below 30fps.

 

For less money and more performance he could get a 2nd hand HD7950 for $120-150
