weird performance in minecraft on 970

Hey guys been having some weird performance with my 970 just in minecraft! I turn everything up in minecraft and i get 25-40 frames but when i turn the chunks down to 16 i get 200+! so i decided to check my gpu usage while at 16 and 32 chunks and it doesnt get higher then 35%! is this a common problem with minecraft not utilizing the gpu and i have an i5 4670k so im just confused on y its not performing better! any ideas?

Minecraft doesn't utilise the GPU that much.

yeah thats what i figured, any ideas why it wants to poop out at 32 chunks?

Minecraft runs more intensively on the CPU than on the GPU. I've found the best way to deal with this is to turn of any unneeded graphic boosters. If you have not OC'd your CPU you could also do that.

yeah i havnt oc'd yet since ive never done that b4 and i havnt got a cpu cooler yet and my ac was broken till today lol

16 chunks = 17x17 chunks loaded

32 chunks = 33x33 chunks loaded

minecraft gets capped out by the CPU even when combining a 4770 with a GT640.
