So, recently my HTC ONE M7 took a dump and rarely accepts a charge even though it will recognize that there is a cable plugged in. I tried to get a replacement device and they wanted me to pay a $200 deductable, for that money I could just buy a mint condition Nexus 5 of Ebay.

I decided that I might aswell TRY and fix it seeing that it is a relatively small risk if I ruin an already broken phone and if I do fix it I save $200.

I split it open on my desk and then plugged in the usb cable to check if it is destroyed yet, and it recognized the cable. So I feel confident about the project now and I want to replace the battery (around 2 years old), and the shell (pretty banged up from not using a case) while I have it open.

Now my question to you guys is, do you know if I can get a battery that is more than the regular 2300mAH, or any other mods that might be worth a shot?

Just stick with an original battery from HTC.

It's possible there are bigger batteries out there, but it's also possible there are batteries that are marketed with a bigger capacity than they actually have.

And you don't want to swap the battery again if you have installed a worse battery than the original one...

I would think it would be hard to do much modding since they are really compacted in there, as well as it is REALLY hard to get the screen back on perfectly. You can get a refurbished M7 (even in beautiful blue) for about $150 on ebay these days.

Heyyo,

Yeah it is possible for aftermarket batteries in I'm sure and tbh I wouldn't worry too much if the battery is "official" or not... they don't have any warranties anyways.

Tbh if you're worried about battery life? Just stick with Android Kitkat on the HTC One M7. Lollipop v5.0.2 has quite a few bugs in it for battery life... 5.1.1 definitely fixes them but who knows if the HTC One M7 will ever see that from an official rom...
