So I have the Gigabyte G1 Gaming version of the 970 so its clocked quite high to begin with but I decided to try to overclock it since it runs very cool. However any slight overclock results in huge artifacts. I can get the memory to +350 but any adjustment to the core clock causes crashes. I'm using EVGA precision X and increased the power limit to the highest it would go. Am I missing something painfully obvious or have I just been horribly unlucky in the silicon lottery?

Were you trying this OC with the memory OC? I have the exact same card, but I am using gigabytes own tool.

EDIT: i was going to take screens of my OC settings and all that, but apparently those settings aren't saved, may have been reset with a driver update.

I do however remember being able to get my core to 1440MHz, though I didn't use furmark to validate stability, I only used some games for that, power limit never went above 90% IIRC, even though I had that limit set to 112.

I only OC'd the core, didn't touch memory, core voltage offset min was raised by 0.013V.

Hey my 980 sucks balls at overclocking. I can't get it to run firestike with the core clock at 1400MHz and the power target/volts all the way up...

Are you sure you have the same card? Mine is at just over 1500MHz stock.

I am quite, according to the seller the stock is 1329 on my card. Funny thing is, last time I got the 1440Mhz I had the frequency addition @ +40Mhz, now at +45 I am getting 1380, must have been a small load. (Warframe, used DSR to get 2500x1500 something res, had it locked at 60FPS though)

I guess I should mess with the settings a bit more to see where this thing can go, under actual load.

I wouldn't be too surprised about people getting much more out of their GPU though, everything sold in Finland seems to run slower...

Also, if you are getting 1500MHz already the i would say your GPU is OC'd quite plenty already, I don't think it is that common to get this thing above 1600.

EDIT: Whelp, I just tested with Crysis 3, wasn't a long run, and it ended with an error saying that the device was removed, (driver crashed). But I did get to 1550, and I didn't touch the voltage yet, temps were 70 ish?, I should use a log file.
