Im currently looking at building a console sized machine I can game on while im away for 6 months. Its currently a toss up between either an a10 6800K black edition or an i5-4690K. It will be used with a 970 and only on a 1080p TV so im wondering will i be better off with the APU in terms of price to performance? If anybody is interested it will be going in either rvz01 or rvz02 (if its released in time)

p.s. I fully intend to sell the build when I get back as I have no other use for it.

TIA

Get the I5 it's much better.

An AMD cpu has no place in a solely gaming build, end of.

I3 4150, Intel HD graphics, corsair CX750M, 4gb ram, Asus H81M-E, corsair 230T, Intel stock cooler WD Green 2TB Gigabyte 550TI

Why you shouldn't trust Gpu or Cpu boss Click on this I dare you!

What's your budget?

If you don't mind forking out I'd go with the i5, but I'm not sure if the 4690k gives much benefit over a locked i5 for what you're wanting to do.

im looking at trying to keep it below £500 as I already have a 970 for it. As its going to be pretty much a disposable system im looking to get best performance for price I can. As i said 6 months and im going to sell it anyway. I have no use for another gaming rig

I'd say i5 for a console build since I'm using one with the stock cooler on my rig and the temps are good.

The i5 is almost £200 on its own though and I have a feeling its way overkill for what im going to be using it for
