Do I need to reinstall Windows?

Go to solution Solved by Godlygamer23,

Doing a motherboard swap doesn't usually require a reinstall of Windows provided the underlying CPU architecture remains the same. For example, if you started off with some sort of AM3+ board with an FX 4300 CPU, but then decided to get a better board and an 8350, reinstalling Windows would not be required. However, driver issues may come up and you may have to deal with that.

I am currently running Windows 8.1. I had to do a motherboard swap and I thought I had to reinstall windows.

However the computer with the new motherboard booted into windows completely fine with no issues. So do I still need to reinstall? Thanks.

Windows only recognizes a "new" computer if it has a new CPU and mobo, so no, you're fine

Ya the first time I turned it on it went like "Getting Devices Ready",

So I guess it was just finding some new chipset drivers or something.

If I start getting a bunch of wierd stuff happening in the next couple of weeks I will reinstall I guess.

THANKS!

Alright I should be good then.
