Well there are multiple things

PSU is expensive for what it is

16GB RAM minimum for editing really, if he is going to be even half-serious

Z97 board is in reach

i would like a high quality PSU, and its really a x series seasonic PSU for $30 less

i will upgrade to 16 gigs later, hence the 1 8 gig stick

it probably is but i want to keep the red/black color scheme and have an asus board

There are Z97 red/black boards, such as the Gigabyte Z97X-SLI, but if you want Asus then go ahead (the SLI has a brown PCB unfortunately though)

1. Both will work fine, even for rendering and editing, a bunch of youtubers use 4690ks

2. Why ASUS? Why h97? Misewell get a Z97. Nothing special about ASUS.

3: I just chose the case because why not.. Doesn't really matter which one you get.

4. Good luck gaming at 1440p on a 290, I wish you luck on that.

1:z97 would be wasted because its a xeon (u can't overclock it)

2:im not playing very GPU intensive games(tf2, gmod) and if i were to play harder to run games in the future i can add a second 290

Still at 1440p a 290 in crossfire will still be pushing it...
