I was just wondering if there are any linux users here, and what is like to game on linux.

I've been considering trying it out.

A lot of what it is like to game on linux is going to depend on the game you intend to play. I personally just grab free games of the Software Center, and play with KSP and Prison Architect with my laptop in Ubuntu 14.04LTS (Enlightenment DE if that matters). There are a few games that will work just fine being "emulated" using PlayOnLinux also (I have played Theme Hospital this way).

Basically, If you want to be easy with it, use Ubuntu and Steam, and ensure the game you want has a Linux port (not all are ports, some are native, but close enough).

Before vulkan I don't see much of a chance to play AAA Titels. Main reason being worse GPU drivers and secondly DirectX.

But there are some nice open games like openttd, springrts (started as Total Annihilation clone, now RTS game engine for several mods), Sauerbraten(aka Cube2, basically like quake but faster), tesseract (Sauerbraten with a newer graphic engine), etc...

This open titels often get way more love in Linux. For example, for me all of this titles work very well with the radeonsi drivers.
