I meant as a minimum, basically if the 8800 is the minimum GPU for a PC, is the 960 the same or better enough to run it?

 

You're looking at it the wrong way. The games aren't specifically made to run on those specific cards.

 

Each card tier has different performance, and the 960 will run anything better than the 8800.

i had the 9800gt (rebranded 8800gt) and it cant run those games for shit, but a 960 will do well

I think your getting confused by the naming scheme.. the 8800 is over 10 years old the 960 is new.. the 960 is WAY better.

You can't even start comparing the two, as the 8800 GT is so old. What game are you thinking of?

In any case, GTX 960 is very capable.

i bought a 8800 in 2007, in todays terms its would be equal to poop, the 960 is light years better its like comparing a ps2 to a xbox one.

Trust me, the 960 takes gt 8800 out to the woods and kills it with a shotgun.
