As he said He does a lot of multitasking sooo I think the FX 8350 is better. What you were saying was also correct and it's also very nice to have but Does he really need that? An FX 8350 should do fine for a long time :)

it isn't a bad cpu and a i5 would easily handle the things i want but what you are saying it is good for a long time is the right statement upgrading wouldn't be worth the money

You would think Ubisoft would support the Bulldozer based architectures more given their digging themed names like bulldozer, Piledriver, Steamroller and Excavator.

Indeed, it is better for multi-tasking. But I would still be worried about the next gen of games (next gen for PC, not what console calls a gen lol)

To an I5? Not sure.

I know I had an A-10 5700 APU and I was blown away by the upgrade to my I5, but that would have probably been the same as upgrading to an 8350 lol

yeah but a a10 5700 isn't a fx 8350 they are WAY different Apu/cpu

Well I think that it will last longer with the 8 cores but not as powerfull as the I5, but an I5 can get a little slow over time with these next gen games I think... They run slower and they have lesser cores. Also they could get along with these games because of hyperthreading? Idk,

Things like Star Citizen etc. Unless they end up optimizing for more than 2 cores.

also games will probable get better performance from more cores in future games

more cores doesn't mean better performance at this time games benefit more from less faster cores than more slower cores this will probable change in future games (they would probable optimise games for more cores)

Yeah, that's what I pointed out. I would have been equally blown away by an upgrade to an I5/8350 just because of how terribad the a-10 5700 was.

Again, that depends on whether or not gaming companies start optimizing for better multi-core use. If they continue to poorly optimize for single or dual core use, the 8350 won't last as long as an I5 because of the higher IPC.

It's actually "fewer, more efficient" cores. Higher instructions per clock. Which is why they can get away with running at a lower clock speed.

I just feel like AMD's platform is getting old, and might run into bottlenecks a lot sooner than an equivalent lga 1150 platform. Or you could wait and go with lga 1151 for that DDR4 compatibility.

Yes! Like Far cry 4, it won't even run on a dual core CPU, maybe it's a sign? Maybe Future game just need more cores to just even run?

Actually it will, Ubisoft just decided to be morons about it.

thats what i was thinking of to do just wait until idk like end of the year/early 2016 and then see what new cpu are here because i probable also want to upgrade my gpu

I'd wait and see what comes with Intels z170 chipset on the lga 1151 platform. If I remember correctly, it's supposed to be able to take ddr3 and ddr4 (although I think it has to be a special kind of ddr3, which means everyone will likely just go with ddr4)..

I know if I had the money, I'd upgrade when the time came, although I suffer from upgrade lust lol
