Could you please give me your opinion on this build?

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/N8yDyc

I am still thinking about changing few things up:

motherboard -> MSI H81M-P32L/ IntelH81/ LGA1150/ DDR3 1600MHz/ mATX

HDD -> 3,5" HDD 2TB Toshiba, SATA III, 7200ot, 64MB

RAM -> Kingston DDR3 16GB 1600MHz CL10 (2x8GB) (HX316C10FK2/16)

Intended usage:

Mostly programming which would not be hardware intensive at all. Besides that I will be doing some "light" video rendering (home video from time to time). I am not planning to game on it for now but I want to "keep my doors open" so I could play some game in a few months if I want to.

So yeah I guess we could call it gaming machine even though I will not play games most of the time.

well dont go with the micro atx motherboard if you ever want to expand to dual grafics cars or add something like a wireles pci card there may be problem and if this is a gaming rig, dont go for a xeon go for an i5/i7 and im not that good at power suplyes but i think 500W is a bit overkill

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

I am the most confused about that motherboard chipset stuff. I found info that there is "north and south bridge" but nothing that would tell mi if it actually matters what chipset and other stuff that board got beside connectors or how to choose in based on that.

@Bananasplit_00 I am not planning to use 2 graphics cards and I guess that I don't need wireless either. This Xeon is only 35 euro more expensive from second option so I am kinda future proofing that.

I would change the motherboard to Gigabyte GA-H97M-HD3 Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard for $10 more.

I would also change the Hard drive to the 3,5" HDD 2TB Toshiba(Toshiba DT01ACA200). Seagate HDD have high failure rate.

And the PSU should be 80+ bronze or better. Corsair CX430 is $20 (after mail in rebate).

I've edited my posts which explains my intended usage of this build. Even thou I won't be gaming most of the time I still would like to have the possibility to play some game if I have the free time and I would be in the mood for something like that.

@Searinex Thanks for the suggestion but it's like 100 euro more in my store so I'll go with something else. Anyway over night (sadly just before I wanted to order it) they bumped up that Xeon price by another 60 euro and I am not willing to pay for that it so I need to find something else that would fit right into this build. Could you give me some advice on which one would be the best fit? I could go with one of these:

INTEL Core i3-4160 3.6GHz, 3MB, socket 1150, BOX

Intel Core i3-4150, Dual Core, 3.50GHz, 3MB, LGA1150, 22nm

Intel Core i3-4330, Dual Core, 3.50GHz, 4MB, LGA1150, 22nm

INTEL Core i3-4330 3.5GHz, 4MB, socket 1150, BOX

INTEL Core i3-4370 3.8GHz, 4MB, socket 1150, BOX

Intel Core i5-4430, Quad Core, 3.00GHz, 6MB, LGA1150, 22nm

Intel Core i5-4460, Quad Core, 3.20GHz, 6MB, LGA1150, 22nm

Intel Core i5-4430, 3.0GHz, BOX (1150)

INTEL Core i5-4440 (3,1Ghz / 6MB / Soc1150 / VGA) Box

Intel Core i5-4460, Quad Core, 3.20GHz, 6MB, LGA1150, 22nm

Intel Core i5-4570, 3,2GHz, BOX (1150)

Intel Core i5-4590, Quad Core, 3.30GHz, 6MB, LGA1150, 22nm

INTEL Xeon 4-Core E3-1220v3/ 3.10GHz/ 8MB cache/ LGA1150/ Haswell/ BOX

INTEL Core i5-4670 3,4 GHz, 6MB, socket 1150, BOX

Intel Core i5-4690, Quad Core, 3.50GHz, 6MB, LGA1150, 22nm

INTEL Core i5-4690S 3,2GHz, 6MB, socket 1150, BOX

Is in this group something that would be very close to that original Intel Xeon E3-1230 V3 3.3GHz? If so I would probably pick that if not than I am looking for something that would give me good performance for the money.

I have compared benchmark and price and decided that Intel Core i5-4460, Quad Core, 3.20GHz, 6MB, LGA1150, 22nm should be by far the best choice from this list. Am I right? The only downside I found is that it does not have hyperthreading but I have no idea how big of a difference it makes.

How much is the i5-4590 at your store? it cost the same as the i5 4460 in NA. if not the i5-4460 is a good pick.

Hyperthreading adds more cores but some programs are not programmed to use the second thread. i5s have 4 core without hyperthreading. i7s have 4+ cores and hyperthreading.

INTEL Xeon 4-Core E3-1220v3/ 3.10GHz/ 8MB cache/ LGA1150/ Haswell/ BOX: this one.

Most of these xeons around the price point of I5's and 7's perform similar to i7's wihtout hyperthreading. The quad core ones to be more precise. So you'll be getter good single core and multi core performance, single for gaming, multi for rendering and editing.

@Searinex Thanks for the suggestion but it's about 30 euro more expensive. From what I've seen here I think it's not worth it. Thanks for the video, I have found it yesterday but it would really help if I didn't.

@Starelementpoke Yeah, I wanted to pick that one but they raised the price it was originally selling by 60 euro and now it's like 120 euro more than i5-4660

@ R9 280x is 90 euro more in my store. I think that's too much. Maybe I could buy one of these instead if the performance would be so much better compared to the price. MSI GTX 960 2GD5 for 25 euro more MSI GTX 960 2GD5T OC which costs 40 euro more or maybe even MSI GTX 960 GAMING 2G which I can buy for 56 euro more. But I think that R9 270 should be in my sweet spot.
