In the US a lot of companys ask for it here in Europe it's pretty useless.

It maybe could help you but a lot of jobs ask for real world experience and not a certificate which is quite easy to get.

I wouldn't pay for the course but if you can get it through school or cheaper it might be worth it. As an alternative Cisco also offers a similar course called IT essentials.

Eh, it's $350 (USD) last time I checked, I would only get it if your school or collage offers it for free, or it's a needed requirement for a job. It's basically all common sense of what to do, what not to do, and what things are, when working with computers.

In the US yes. Its part of my school curriculum, and they offer at $100 or so here. Its mostly just a "Look ive a certificate, so now im a professional look at me!!" type thing. Damn, companies love those...

Yes. The A+ itself is pretty much a guaranteed help desk job, but may not go any further than that. Getting a cert means that a company will claim that you know what you are doing in that level of difficulty. At least that is how people hiring view them. 

 

It all depends on the market. For networking Certs are VERY important, and so is the degree. I'm going to go finish up another Cisco cert today. I currently have my CCNA.

 

At least this is true in the U.S. I can't speak for anywhere else.

That $350 is just the starting line, since 2011 you now need to pay every year/every 3 years, to keep the license.

If you passed it before that, you essentially have a "life time" certificate, which is BS.

That's how almost all certs work, they're only valid for 2-3 years then you retake the exam. It's so your current on the new technology which is what companies want, it's just that the A+ itself is kind of useless.
