I'm trying to install cyanogen on an S2, but I get this:

Unfortunately, the 1-click installer doesn't work for all devices. If you go on their website and search for your device, there should be detailed instructions on how to do it manually.

If you couldn't get the installer to work, yeah that's the way you have to do it. Words of wisdom: pay close attention to any warnings in those instructions. There are things that can brick your device if done improperly.

Dont get me wrong you can definitive brick a device, I just wouldn't say often. The installer might as well be 99% foolproof (my mom could probably do it), just dont interrupt the actions.

I assume you've followed the steps accordingly?

 

Just try a manual flash.

Let me rephrase that. There are things you can do wrong which will often brick the device. The process itself doesn't often brick it (assuming you follow instructions).
