Help, random FPS drops..

Hey there, I was wondering if someone could help me. Since I've had my new GTX 970 strix I've experienced random drops in FPS and I can't figure out why. It has become more apparent to me since I've modded skyrim a lot but it is not the only game that it happens in, I originally thought it was the memory but its not, I'm a full Gig below the 3.5 threshold.

My specs:

Amd fx8150

16 GB of RAM

Gtx 970 strix 4GB

H80i

Nothing is Overclocked and temps are totally fine.

Make sure your drivers are up to date, and I'd recommend using adaptive v-sync in the graphics menu for your gpu.

Use HWmonitor and look at the CPU temps and usage, And GPU usage after a gaming session.

Screencap HWmonitor and upload it.

Okay I'll get on it when I get home from college. Something I noticed the other day was in CPU-Z my CPU clock was jumping up and down between around 1.3Ghz and 4Ghz. Can you suggest a way to stop that as its most likely got something to do with it.

Can you specify on the game. Maybe HDD or CPU might be causing issues. Make sure you got the latest drivers. Use HWmonitor for temps and usage.

Okay I'll get on it when I get home from college. Something I noticed the other day was in CPU-Z my CPU clock was jumping up and down between around 1.3Ghz and 4Ghz. Can you suggest a way to stop that as its most likely got something to do with it.

My driver's are totally up to date and adaptive vsync is turned on. I did a quick gaming session on skyrim while running HWMonitor and took a screenshot. My clocks on the CPU are still jumping all over the place?

Do you have turboboost on or off? Id recommend having it off.

And if that doesnt help you could try disabling cool and quiet(Just check your temps now and then if it is disabled, It could fry your CPU if the cooler loses contact.

Im not sure, i'll be checking when Im home. Something weird that seems off too is that surely my max core clock on my gpu should of went in the 1000 range since I had abit of a gaming session to see where everything peaks?

Already see a problem. It says youre max gpu clock was 540 while that has to be way higher. Download msi afterburner and look at the core clock, and maybe change it a bit.

Yeah I thought that myself so i'm looking into it, I ran heaven benchmark while using hwmonitor and after burner and it stayed the same so yeah. Gonna reinstall my drivers and if that doesnt work i'll probably use afterburner.

So after testing and messing around with things my core clock is fine on after burner but HWmonitor say it's still 540mhz which I find quite hard to believe as before I reinstalled my drivers after burner was locked at 540mhz too. I gonna mess around abit more,

Does the monitoring of afterburner also say its 540, or does it say its higher? I would always believe afterburner, but thats just me
