Hello friends, i recently bought these components for a personal build from my old PC since i thought i was time for an upgrade. I have built a lot of PC's over the course of 2 years but i never came across such a problem. So the problem is after installing each component carefully using the manual as usual, as i was installing the Aftermarket heat sink after placing the thermal paste on the CPU I carefully placed the heat sink over the CPU socket but it still wasn't aligned and I raised up after it making contact the the paste. As this happened the moment I raised it up the paste was slightly runny and small string piece of the paste made contact with the motherboard, I realized this and took off the heat sink and got a paper tower and placed some isopropyl alcohol just on the tip of the paper towel and then I began to gently take of the little bit of the paste which was hardly visible on the board. Luckily the paste didn't make contact with any components or connectors on the motherboard which would have been disastrous and it was all cleaned like new. After than I placed the heat sink back over the CPU being successful this time and it was all good to go. However as I press the power button the fans from the PSU or in the case would not spin however when i turn off the lights in my room the LED lights for the chassis were on and also I had a USB thumb drive and my head set which were connected in the USB 3.0 ports and the light on them were on as well without flickering, and also from pressing the the power button the 1st time the front panel lights would briefly come on for a second then it would switch back off. What can be the cause to this? The motherboard 20+4 and 8 pin power connectors are all in its place especially after triple checking. Can someone give a possible solution to this? Did my actions cause the motherboard to fail ??

Please help

could be a dead mobo if it doesn't work it doesn't always mean its your fault sometimes your unlucky and get dead parts could also be the psu if the fans arent spinning but try run the only essential components unplug the hdd extra case fans (not cpu fans lol) unplug extras dives etc and try take the graphics card out see if the fans at least spin on the cpu and psu if not then its probably your psu or mobo.

hope this helps.
