CPU advice

Go to solution Solved by EmeraldKiwi,

If you are going for the 280x, try to get at least 600w. A single GPU doesn't present much of a power limitation, even if its a 280x. 600w will go pretty far. I used one with an AMD 4150 and a 7870 , both over clocked to the max, and there was still no power limitations. If you plan to get a second GPU in the future, get a 700-900w to leave the most possible room for excess power draw. Otherwise,

TL;DR:

600w is fine for your current build.

EDIT:

karlsanada13 from Toms hardware previously solved a topic about the best 600w PSU. He said,

"Seasonic M12II 620w 80+ Bronze

or the same psu but with S12II.

M12II = modular

the other is not but it's the same psu all-around."

Hey I need some piece of advice in regard to an intel CPU.

So got a r9 280x vapor-x but I don't know which CPU to go with. Pricerange is 200 to 250€ max.

I thought the Core i5-4590 would be great but it costs 204€ and the core i5-4690 226€.

The PC will be used for gaming (as far as the r9 280x can handle it) and work for school or uni no videoediting or rendering.

Can i theoretically pick a Pentium G3250 or an i3 without bottlenecking my GPU?

would be awesome if someone can help me out.

The i5 4590 would be more than enough.

but the 4690 costs 23€ more..

edit: so is there no cheaper option for the work i will do? I would pick an i5 since they are not really expensive but will i need an i5?

and I've got another question: will a 600W PSU get the job done or do i need a 750W?

The 4590 is probably fine. I don't know what socket it is, but try to grab an LGA 1150/1155 to leave room for a better CPU in the future if you want. It saves in the future because you won't have to replace the motherboard, unless you want to.

600w seasonic

thank you. I'm going for the 600w since I don't think that I am going to have 2 GPUs in my system in the future.
