$1200 Build Suggestions?

I was planning on building a new pc soon for mostly gaming and maybe a little streaming. $1200 USD is the budget and I'll be gaming on a 1080p screen. This is the build I have so far http://pcpartpicker.com/p/gcgT99. I went x99 because it's only slightly more expensive than the 4790k route and I feel like it should be a better option for the future. Any suggestions?

Side note: I haven't chosen the mobo and ram yet, the ones in the pcpartpicker link are only to show the price range im looking at.

Don't need: monitor, peripherals, case or windows

I just think anything over a 970 is overkill for 1080p. Plus I don't like the hassle of crossfire and SLI :(

Do you guys think the money used on upgrading from a 970 to 980 is worth the 4790k downgrade?

I5-4690k is the worth the 980 upgrade. My build i showed you is very nice and save up another $100 and in about a month add a 250gb SSD to,put the OS on and your favorite games. You said a little bit of streaming, if you aren't doing youtube and just at gonna do streaming stick with the i5 :)

16 GBs is overkill for 1200, he can always add another stick of ram or two later. You can always add a SSD later. It's literally two wires. Why get a 290x when he can get a 980? Much better also that cooler can be quite loud at some points. Go for a be quiets! Pure Rock

Well the 290x is pretty even with the 980 performance wise for 1080p/1440p gaming but the 980 does out perform on 4k, not that I would reccommend it for 4k either but it could work.

So the money saved could get that extra ram and the SSD now rather than later.

Biggest reason i used it in the build.

I was just re-looking at your build and if I choose a 970, I can get a 5820k instead of a 4690k for about the same overall price. Which option do you think is better? 5820k + 970 or 4690k + 980

NIce build for the money. There is just enough money to get 16GB of RAM which is the only change I would do

PC is Intel Core i5 6400, GIgabyte H170 Gaming 3, Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x4GB 2400Mhz ,Sandisk Ultra Plus 128GB, WD Blue 1TB, NZXT S340, ASUS Geforce GTX 960. Fractal Design Tesla R2 650W. http://au.pcpartpicker.com/p/793XNG. Graphics card choices don't always have to be dictated on performance. If you want the game stream and power consumption of the GTX 970 get that. If you want raw performance of the R9 390 get that. In the end we are all gamers, so what if your buddy gets an extra 5 fps?

A 5820k is not needed :) A 4690kmwill be good for some streaming like you said and the 980 will,do amazing. Plus like I said get a 1x8 kit of ram and if its not enough you can always buy the same stick of ram and just pop it in. Same for a SSD its just as easy as take out the 2.5inch bay, getting the sata and power plugs and plugging it in. Simple things like that can wait. Things like a good mobo or good GPU you misewell get now then later, same with a CPU. Games aren't using the extra cores so why get it?

Nice, only thing I'd do is go for ATX mobo not micro and get a Be quiet! Pure Rock, muc quieter then the 212evo for like $5 more. Other then that likemive said before, ram and SSDs are easy to add a month or two down the road. Something like a whole new PC from the PSU Crapping out or another GPU OR CPU because you got one that's not good enough is not something easy to get.
