New Build

Go to solution Solved by Freeeeezy,

Ok so this is the final build!

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/zDMjQ7

Definitely cannot wait to build this monster! Btw I changed the PSU to a 750w because of the 290x, probably a bit overkill but it's cheaper than any 650w PSU's that I could find, and it's better to be safe than sorry. :) Thank you to everyone for the feedback!

I plan on building my first PC in the near future. I've been researching for quite a while now, and have finally gotten it together. I plan on using this computer to record, stream, edit, and upload gaming videos. I'm fairly certain that everything will work perfectly together in this build, so I'm not looking for help, but more suggestions. If you have any, please let me know why as well because I love learning more and more about PC's and am having a lot of fun picking parts for them. :)

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/g8y6Vn

Here's the build. Again, any suggestions for better parts would be great. :)

Well everything seems to be pretty good but the only thing i would recommend very highly is to prehaps obtain windows 8 a different more free way such as pirating so that you can save yourself almost $100 and put that to something else. Im not saying you have to im just saying that you could save yourself money and thats what i did.

are you willing to spend a bit more?

Not trying to hate, but watch out for "spend a little bit more". My first rig was $800 and ended up being around $1,200.

Anyway, it's a solid build. Just get a cheaper case, and you can get an R9 290X for about $280.

I'm probably willing to spend about $100 more as long as it is justified. I'm not planning on recording too many complex graphic-y games. More games like CS:GO and Minecraft, with maybe some CoD too.

I'll definitely look in to it. As much as I want to stay legal, saving that much money is just too persuading.

I just took away Windows 8, I really like the case. I made sure to get a nice case with good cable management for my first build. I'll put that money towards a 290x

LOL, i started planning my build about 6 months ago when i decided to think about building a new pc. Started off at around $800...yea i ended up spending like $2100. Never fall for the "spend a bit more" thing youll end up throwing money at your computer hoping it spontaneously grows a titan x

Lol the peer pressure is SO REAL hahaha, my first build was around $800, but I chose to go up a bit for the fact that I wanted to make sure I had enough power for all the video recording, editing and streaming.

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/3LF7BmYou can always pirate windows or get,it on reddit for $20 I've heard. You can change the case but I just did a red/black somewhat silent PC. If you wanna overclock innthe future a Be Quiet! Pure Rock is a nice cheap air cooler which will allow over clocking in the future :)

Ok, so I took out Windows 8, and exchanged the R9 290 to a 290x. The build is actually a bit cheaper because of the OS

I don't really plan on overclocking. I didn't really want to go in to it for my first build, so I chose a Xeon which would be reliable and has Hyper-threading. It's basically a locked i7 with no integrated graphics.

The difference a xeon would make for this build would be minimal, and for the things you'd be doing it looks like you wouldn't be able to take advantage of the extra things xeons offer like error correction, low power consumption and heat output. These things matter for data centers, not gamers or editors. would definitely recommend the i7 equivalent. Xeons do seem to add a little e-peen though for whatever reason.

well i guess if he's never gonna OC and always have a dedicated card in there then that's a fine way to go

Yeah but the Xeon is obviously dependable because it's meant to run for a long time, and it has the same specs as the i7-4470, but cheaper ($60 Margin) I think I'll stick with the Xeon. The i7 would also have features that I'm not gonna use such as integrated graphics and I'm pretty sure lower heat output and power consumption are better :)

Definitely cannot wait to build this monster! Btw I changed the PSU to a 750w because of the 290x, probably a bit overkill but it's cheaper than any 650w PSU's that I could find, and it's better to be safe than sorry. :) Thank you to everyone for the feedback!
